Chairman of Da Nang city People’s Committee Huỳnh Đức Thơ hosted on November 15 a reception for 18 Buddhist delegates in the city nominated to attend the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha(VBS)’s 8th national congress.
During the reception, while extending congratulatory greetings to the delegates of the VBS’s national congress, Chairman Huỳnh Đức Thơ praised practical contributions made by religions in general, and the provincial VBS Chapter in particular, to socio-economic development of the city over the past years.
Most Venerable Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee of the VBS Chapter in the city Thích Trí Viên took the chance to thank local authorities for creating favorable conditions extended to Buddhist practices in the locality over the past years.
As reported, the VBS’s national congress themed “Intelligence, discipline, integration and development” will be held on November 20-22 in Hanoi city with the attendance of 1,250 official delegates representing Buddhists in the provinces and cities across the country.
