The three-year implementation of belief and religion law has brought many changes to State administration on religious affairs in Bac Ninh province. Religious dignitaries, deacons and lay followers have well observed the State and Party guidelines and policies and proactively participated in patriotic movements, contributing to the socio-economic development in the locality.
Right after the Law on Belief and Religion taking effect in January 2018, the Department of Home Affair in Bac Ninh has closely worked with related agencies to disseminate the Law on Belief and Religion and Decree No. 162/2017/ND-CP detailing a number of articles of the Law on Belief and Religion and prescribing measures for its implementation for officials tasked with religious affairs, religious dignitaries, deacons and lay followers in the locality.
From 2018 to 2021, local authorities have organized 84 disseminating conferences to 8,284 people and timely solved legitimate needs of religious organizations and individuals.
Dong Nhan village in Yen Phong district’s Hoa Tien commune has 90 households and 480 residents, all of whom follow Catholicism. Over the past years, local Catholics in the village have well observed the State and Party’s guidelines and policies and local regulations.
Catholics in the province has proactively participated in patriotic movements launched by local authorities.
Regarding to participating new rural construction, Catholics in the village has maintained weekly “Green Sunday” movement, voluntarily donated 500 m2 of agricultural land to build a kindergarten.
Relating ordainment, appointment and election of religious dignitaries and deacons, 47 cases are ordained, 72 cases are appointed and transferred over past three years.
Local authorities have also paid attention to restoration of religious worshipping places in the province with 51 worshipping places restored or newly built.
Local religious organizations have spent 31.6 billion VND in total on social charities, including presentation of over 33,600 gift packages to disabled children, poor pupils, wounded soldiers, Vietnam heroic mothers, etc.
Bac Ninh province has currently two operative religions of Buddhism and Catholicism with 400 dignitaries and 1,540 worshipping places. Over 25% the provincial population follow Buddhism and 15,000 people follows Catholicism residing in 38 parishes.
