Buddhists in Ba Ria - Vung Tau send supports worth 30 billion VND to Covid-19 prevention work

Most Venerable Thích Quảng Hiển, Member of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Central Executive Council cum Chairman of the VBS Executive Committee in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province welcomed on November 4 a visiting delegation of Phu My provincial city’s authorities led by Secretary of Phu My’s Party Committee Lê Hoàng Hải on occasion of the VBS’s 40th anniversary.  

Speaking with the guests, Most Venerable Thích Quảng Hiển informed that Buddhists in Ba Ria - Vung Tau have made contributions valued at over 30 billion VND for the Covid-19 prevention and control work, including a presentation of 1,047 million VND to the Covid-19 vaccine fund in the province, operation of zero-VND markets, donation of essential supplies to people in lockdown and quarantine areas, the frontline forces against the pandemic, and disadvantaged people, etc.

Most Venerable Thích Quảng Hiển, who is also Abbot of Đại Tòng Lâm Pagoda in Phu My, took the chance to thank the authorities of the provincial city for favorable conditions extended to Buddhist affairs of the VBS in Ba Ria – Vung Tau province and Phu My provincial city over the past years.

Secretary Lê Hoàng Hải, who is also Chairman of People’s Council of Phu My, while extending warm greetings and congratulations to Most Venerable Thích Quảng Hiển on the 40th founding anniversary of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, thanked the Buddhist dignitary and monks and nuns for their practical contributions for socio-economic development and environmental protection in Ba Ria – Vung Tau province and Phu My provincial city, including efforts and valuable supports extended to the Covid-19 fighting in response to appeals and guidelines of the Central VBS and state authorities./.
