The Buddhist club “Phuoc Lien Pagoda goes green for community and engages in environmental protection” formally made its debut at a ceremony held on August 17.
The event taking place in the pagoda located in Kien Giang province’s Chau Thanh district was held by the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) committee in Kien Giang in coordination with the natural resources and environment department and the executive committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) chapter in the province.
As planned, the club’s management board would closely work with local authorities for raising public awareness on the environmental issue and practical activities for environmental protection and climate change adaptation. The board and its Buddhist members would also regularly implement committed activities practical to environmental protection and climate change adaptation, including the immediate planting of 70 apitong and golden oak trees along the entrance road to the pagoda./.
