A delegation of Bac Ninh provincial authorities on May 23 visited and met with the exucitive committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) chapter in the province ahead of Vesak Day – Buddha’s Birthday Festival 2018 (B.E. 2562)
The delegation comprising of representatives of provincial departments and agencies was headed by Standing Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Nguyễn Hữu Quất.
While extending best wishes and happy cerebrations of the 2562nd anniversary of the Buddha’s Birthday to the VBS chapter and all Buddhists in the province, Deputy Secretary Nguyễn Hữu Quất highlighted practical contributions of local Buddhists to socio-economic development in the locality. He also called the VBS chapter in the province to further encourage local Buddhists to proactively take part in movements and programs launched by state authorities.
Speaking with the guests, Senior Venerable Chairman of the VBS executive committee in the province Thích Thanh Phụng took the chance to thank local authorities for their support and favorable conditions extended to Buddhist practices and social, charitable activities of the Buddhist chapter in the locality.
Extending congratulations to celebration of Buddha’s Birthday in Phat Tich Pagoda
Earlier, the delegation also attended a solemn celebration of the 2562nd Anniversary of the Buddha’s Birthday held in Phat Tich Pagoda. The event attracting flocks of Buddhists and locals featured Buddhist traditional rituals dedicated to the Buddha Shakyamuni and prayers for peace and prosperity in the country.
