Authorities, religious organizations in Hanoi join hand in environmental protection

Responding the action month for Environment 2020, the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) in Hanoi in collaboration with religious organizations in the city launched a program for environmental protection and climate change adaptation at a ceremony held on June 29.  

Present at the event taking place at Canh Tien pagoda located in Dong Anh district’s Uy No commune of the city were Vice President of the municipal VFF Nguyễn Thị Kim Dung, Vice Chairman of the Ethnic and Religion Board under the Commission for Mass Mobilization in Hanoi Phạm Khắc Hải, and representatives of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Committee, Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics, Evangelical Church of Vietnam (North), Minh Su Theravada Buddhist Church, Vietnam Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint and Baha’i Community in the city.

During the event, representatives of religious organization and local people together collected garbage and plastic bags, cleaned pond water surface in Canh Tien pagoda, and planted 70 green trees in the pagoda and along two local roads of the commune’s Kinh No village.

On the occasion, the municipal VFF presented gift sets, valued at one million VND each, to ten disadvantaged households in Kinh No village.
