Authorities in Ba Ria Vung Tau’s Phu My provincial city extends visits to Buddhist dignitaries on Buddha’s Birthday

A delegation led by Secretary of the Party Committee of Ba Ria Vung Tau province’s Phu My provincial city Lê Hoàng Hải extended on May 18 visits to local Buddhist dignitaries, on occasion of Buddha’s 2565th Birthday.

The delegation visited Most Venerable Member of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Central Executive Council cum Chairman of the VBS’s Executive Committee in Ba Ria Vung Tau and Head of Dai Tong Tam pagoda Thích Quảng Hiển, and Superior nun Thích nữ Như Như, Vice Chairwoman of the VBS’s Central Subcommittee for Nun Affairs cum Vice Chairwoman of the provincial VBS’s executive committee and Abbot of Thien Hoa nunnery.

During the visits, while extending greetings on occasion of Buddha’s birthday to Most Venerable Thích Quảng Hiển, Venerable Nun Thích nữ Như Như, other monks, nuns and all lay Buddhists, Secretary Lê Hoàng Hải spoke highly of practical contributions of Buddhists for socio-economic development and public security in the locality.

The official also expressed hope that local Buddhist dignitaries would continue encouraging Buddhists to promote fine traditions, proactively engage in patriotic movements and strictly observe prevention measures against Covid-19 pandemic in the current context for the success of the upcoming elections of deputies to the 15th Nation Asembly and all-level People’s Councils for the 2021-2026 tenure.

While appreciating the delegation’s vist and congratulations, Most Venerable Thích Quảng Hiển and Venerable Nun Thích nữ Như Như informed that the VBS’s executive committee in the province has asked Buddhists worshipping places to guide lay Buddhists to access dharma talks through social media such as YouTube, Facebook, etc. The provincial VBS also suspended all joint summer retreats and other large Buddhist gatherings for preventing the spread of the pandemic.
