The Committee for Solidarity of Catholics in Bac Lieu province held on October 26 the 5th congress of Catholics for the national construction and defense for the 2022-2027 tenure.

Present at the event included Priest Vice Chairman of the Central Committee for solidarity of Catholics of Vietnam Peter Phan Đình Sơn, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party’s Committee Lê Thị Ái Nam, and 280 delegates from 23 Catholic communities and five Catholic places for group activities in the province.
The congress nominated 53 members to the Committee for Solidarity of Catholics in the province for the 2022-2027 tenure with Priest Francis Assisi Nguyễn Phước Hậu selected as President of the Solidarity Committee.

As reviewed at the congress, in the last term, Catholic communities in the province have contributed over 30 billion VND in total for social charities in the fields of education, health and social and humanitarian activities, including the construction of rural roads and charitable houses as well as supports for lonely elderly and people badly affected by Covid-19 pandemic.
