VBS joins coordination program to promote tissue and organ donation

The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) and the Organ and Tissue Donation Association signed a coordination program to promote tissue and organ donation, and launched tissue and organ donation registration in VBS’s chapters in the country on June 25.

The coordination program was a response to the call by Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính on every Vietnamese adult to register as an organ donor with the message “giving is forever”.

The coordination focuses on the communication work toward members of the VBS and people about the noble and humanitarian meaning of donating tissues and organs, so as boosting the registration for tissue and organ donation after death or brain death, and body donation for medical purpose after death, as well as encouraging the establishment of clubs promoting human tissue and organ donation within the VBS system.

After the signing ceremony, the VBS launched tissue and organ donation registration in VBS places across the country with both face-to-face and online formats, and drew 365 lay Buddhists registered as organ donors.
