VBS in Tien Giang province’s Cai Lay provincial city holds memorial service for Covid-19 victims

The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Executive Board in Tien Giang province’s Cai Lay provincial city in collaboration with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in the provincial city held on March 2 a memorial service for Covid-19 victims.
The event taking place at Khanh Quoi pagoda located in Village 3, Tan Binh commune saw the participation of Senior Venerable Thích Đức Quang, Head of the VBS’s Executive Board in the provincial city, monks, nuns and representatives from households who have lost their relatives due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Local guests at the event included Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in Cai Lay Đặng Văn Khảo and Head of Home Affairs Office in the provincial city Nguyễn Văn Mười.
In 2021, Cai Lay provincial city had 7,876 Covid-19 patients, including 156 deaths.
The memorial service aimed to express sympathy to bereaved families over their pain and loss as well as show gratitude to doctors, nurses and volunteers participating in the Covid-19 prevention and control in the locality.
On this occasion, the organizing board presented 164 sets of essential supplies and cash to relatives of the deceased including orphaned children due to Covid-19 pandemic and volunteers with the total value of over 100 million VND.
