VBS in Binh Dinh convenes 7th congress

The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) chapter in Binh Dinh province successfully convened its 7th congress, for 2022-2027 term, on July 4.

The congress taking place at the Convention Center in Binh Dinh saw the presence of Most Venerable Thích Thiện Nhơn, President of the VBS’s Central Executive Council; Standing Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party’s Committee Lê Kim Toàn, and Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Tuấn Thanh.

The one-day event aimed to review the provincial VBS’s affairs in the 2017-2022 tenure, map out working plans for the 2022-2027 term, and elected the new VBS executive committee in the province for the 7th term.

As reported at the congress, during the last five years, the VBS chapter in Binh Dinh province has well promoted its role in guiding monks, nuns and lay Buddhists to practice religion in accordance with the Party’s guidelines and the State’s policies, as well as proactively joint emulation movements launched by the local authorities for promoting socio-economic development and Covid-19 prevention, supporting the disadvantaged and victims of natural calamities, etc. in localities.

The congress also elected the 58-member VBS executive committee in Binh Dinh province for the 2022-2027 term, with Most Venerable Thích Nguyên Phước re-selected as Head of the provincial VBS executive committee.
