The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) chapter in Hoa Binh province successfully held on July 18 its 3th congress (2022-2027 term) at the Cultural Palace in the province.
Provincial VBS executive committee for 4th term makes its debut at the congress
The congress saw the presence of Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu, Standing Vice President of the VBS’s Central Executive Council; Most Venerable Thích Gia Quang, Vice President of the VBS’s executive council; Senior Venerable Thích Đức Thiện, Vice President cum General Secretary of the VBS’s executive council; Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Đinh Công Sứ; Deputy Director of the Buddhist Affairs Department under the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Đào Huy Cường, and about 400 outstanding monks, nuns and lay Buddhists in the province.
During the 2nd term, the provincial VBS has guided lay Buddhists to well implement the Party’s guidelines and the State’s policies and make practical contributions to emulation movements launched by local authorities and social charities with the total value of over 2.6 billion VND.
The one-day congress elected the 42-member VBS executive committee in the province for the 3th term with Senior Venerable Thích Đức Nguyên re-elected as Head of the provincial VBS executive committee.
During the event, one group and one dignitary of the provincial VBS chapter were awarded with certificates of recommendation by the provincial People’s Committee, and outstanding Buddhists of the VBS chapter were presented with certificates of merit by the Central VBS.
According to Senior Venerable Thích Đức Nguyên, Chairman of the VBS Executive Committee in Hoa Binh, the province currently has over 25,000 Buddhist followers, and four district-level VBS executive boards.
