At the congress

The congress taking place in the provincial Culture Center saw the presence of Most Venerable Thích Thiện Nhơn, President of the VBS’s Central Executive Council; Most Venerable Thích Thiện Pháp and Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu, Standing Vice Presidents of the VBS’s Central Executive Council; Senior Venerable Thích Đức Thiện, General Secretary of the VBS’s Central Executive Council cum Chairman of the VBS executive committee in Binh Phuoc for the 5^th term; Vice Chairman of the Central Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Ngô Sách Thực, Secretary of the provincial Party’s Committee Nguyễn Mạnh Cường, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Council Lê Hoàng Lâm, and 500 outstanding monks, nuns and lay Buddhists in the locality.

As reported at the congress, Binh Phuoc province currently has 352 monks and nuns, and 191 Buddhist worshipping places including 174 Mahayana pagodas, 9 monasteries and 8 Theravada pagodas.

The one-day congress elected the 65-member VBS executive committee in the province for the 6^th term with Senior Venerable Thích Đức Thiện re-selected as Head of the VBS executive committee.

During the event, the Central VBS presented certificates of merit to 24 groups and 9 individuals of the provincial VBS chapter in the 5^th term for their outstanding contributions to Buddhist affairs and social charities during 2017-2022 term which valued at 87.5 billion VND in total.

On the occasion, the provincial VBS executive committee presented 200 million VND to the Fund for the Poor in the province.
