The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Executive Committee in Ben Tre province opened on March 15 a training course for heads of Buddhist pagodas in the province.

The event taking place at Vien Minh pagoda located in An Hoi ward of Ben Tre city saw the presence of Most Venerable Thích Thiện Nhơn, President of the VBS’s Central Executive Committee, Most Venerable Thích Nhựt Tấn, Chairman of the provincial VBS’s Executive Committee, and large numbers of Buddhist monks and nuns in the province.
Local guests at the event included Vice Chairwoman of the provincial Party Commission for Mass Mobilization Phạm Thị Thanh Thảo and Vice Chairwoman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Nguyễn Thị Mai Rý.
As reported, the training course will run from March 15 to 18 and covers contents of the new Charter and regulations of the VBS and office administrative skills.
In addition, the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs will disseminate several contents of the Law on Belief and Religion and its guiding Decree 162.
On the occasion, the VBS’s Executive Committee presented ordainment certificates to one most venerable, 17 senior venerables, one superior nun and 26 nuns in the province.
