Seminar on Most Venerable Danh Nhưỡng and his contributions to Dharma & nation

A seminar themed “Most Venerable Danh Nhưỡng: Life – Career – Contributions to Dharma and Nation” was held on August 26 at Candaransi pagoda in Ho Chi Minh city.

The event was co-organized by the Institute for Buddhist Studies under the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) in collaboration with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities under the Vietnam National University in Ho Chi Minh City.

It was held on the 5th death anniversary of Most Venerable Danh Nhưỡng, former Deputy Patriarch of the VBS cum Judiciary of the VBS Central Discernment Council, Principal of the Khmer Therevada Buddhist Institute, Deputy of 11th and 12th National Assembly, member of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee from the fourth to the seventh term, and towards the upcoming 9th national congress of the VBS.

The seminar aimed to study the life and career of the Buddhist dignitary and his outstanding contributions to Khmer Theravada Buddhism in particular, and the cause of Dharma propagation of the VBS in general.

The event received over 40 presentation papers from researchers, scholars and dignitaries of the VBS, clarifying outstanding contributions of Most Venerable Danh Nhưỡng to the Dharma preaching, the development of the VBS, the national unity, international Buddhist relations, and Candaransi Pagoda in the cultural life of Khmer community in South region.
