As part of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s annual program, Vu Lan Festival, one of important festivals of Buddhism, held on the 15th day of the lunar seventh month, aims to pay tribute to the parents and ancestors and commemorate soldiers who sacrificed their lives to defend the country.

During Vu Lan festival this year, local pagodas in Bac Ninh province organized many activities such as offering flowers, wearing red and white roses, chanting the Buddhist Vu Lan (Ullambana) sutra, requiems for martyrs, lighting candles, doing charitable works, releasing live creatures, etc.
On occasion of Vu Lan Festival, representatives of the authorities in the province visited and extended congratulations to local pagodas and Buddhist dignitaries who have practical contributions in social and Buddhist affairs in the locality.
