New Buddhist pagoda in Tra Vinh inaugurated with Abbot appointed

Venerable Thích Như Thành has been formally appointed as Abbot of Van Hung Pagoda in the southern province of Tra Vinh at a ceremony held by the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Chapter in the province on December 11.

 Buddhist dignitaries and local officials perform ribbon-cutting ritual for inaugurating Van Hung pagoda.

Present at the event included Buddhist dignitaries representatives of the executive committee of the VBS chapter in Tra Vinh and heads of Buddhist places in the province.

Guests at the ceremony were Chairman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Lê Văn Tịnh, and representatives of concerning local authorities.

As reported, the establishment of Van Hung Pagoda was approved by the provincial authorities in February 2022 for meeting Buddhist practices of residents of Cho Village of Hiep Thanh commune in Duyen Hai district.

On the occasion, participating VBS Buddhist dignitaries and local officials has performed a ribbon-cutting ritual for inaugurating the main worshipping temple of Van Hung pagoda.
