Lap Lo festival of Chut ethnic group in Ha Tinh celebrated

Lap Lo (Filling hole) festival 2022 of the Chut minority ethnic group residing in Rao Tre village, Huong Lien commune of Ha Tinh province’s Huong Khe district was held on August 4.

Offering ritual of Lap Lo festival 2022

The event was co-organized by the Culture, Sports and Tourism Department in Ha Tinh province in collaboration with the provincial Border Guard Command, the provincial Youth Union and the People's Committee in Huong Khe district.

Traditionally, Lap Lo festival of the Chut ethnic group is annually held on the 7th day of the seventh lunar month with the meaning of plugging holes and drilling seeds, signaling the completion of the sowing of seeds on their upland fields.

The Lap Lo festival aims to celebrate, thank heaven and earth, pray for favorable weather, good harvests, good health and a long, happy and prosperous life.

The festival usually features traditional rituals and festive activities including the erection of the “Neu” tree, worshipping, rites and folk games.

A representative from the culture, sports and tourism Department presents gifts to Chut people

During the program this year, the culture, sports and tourism department presented 46 sets of supports (rice and meat), the provincial Border Guard Command, the provincial Youth Union handed over 300,000 VND in cash to each Chut houshold, the provincial Youth Union presented 15 flocks of chickens and 150 fruit trees to Chut ethnic youth. In addition, the  provincial education and training department donated textbooks from one to 12 grades to Chut pupils and the People’s Committee in Huong Khe district and Trâm – Dũng’s family (Phu Gia commune of Huong Khe district) presented 23 tables and chairs to pupils and 3.5 million VND in cash to repair bicycles of four pupils.
