Khmer pagodas in Soc Trang province presented sets of supports to disadvantaged Buddhists ahead of the traditional New Year (Chol Chnam Thmay) festival of Khmer people.

Venerable Lâm Chanh Sầm Nang, Deputy Head of Can Duoc pagoda in Thanh Phu commune, My Xuyen district presents support supplies to poor households

In order to share difficulties with Buddhists, Venerable Lâm Chanh Sầm Nang, Deputy Head of Can Duoc pagoda in Thanh Phu commune, My Xuyen district has mobilized resources from organizations, individuals, and sponsors for supporting needy families.

 According to Venerable Sầm Nang, the pagoda has gathered over 12 tons of rice, 1,250 boxes of noodles and other necessities for supporting local Buddhists

In the context of the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak in the province, Chroi Tum Chac pagoda in Ward 10 of Soc Trang city has proactively joined the Covid-19 prevention work and sent supports, worth over 200 million VND, to local people in villages.

Sharing about preparation works for the upcoming Chol Chnam Thmay festival, Senior Venerable Lý Đen, Abbot of Chroi Tum Chac pagoda said that due to the Covid-19 pandemic, local Khmer people would celebrate the traditional New Year festival at home, and canceled belief and religious practices with large gatherings in the locality. In addition to supporting Buddhists to overcome the pandemic, the pagoda is carefully preparing religious rituals to welcome locals to come to the pagoda to pray for peace in the beginning of the new year.

Venerable Lâm Chanh Sầm Nang presents supports to lonely elder

 Most Venerable Tăng Nô, Vice Chairman of the Association for Solidarity of Patriotic Monks in Soc Trang province informed that over the past years, the Association has encouraged abbots, monks, the management board of pagodas and local Buddhists to strictly implement the motto “Dharma – Nation – Socialism” of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha. Thereby, lay Buddhists in the province have proactively engaged in patriotic emulation movements and the Covid-19 prevention work in the province.
