The reconstruction of Thuong Lam pagoda located in Thuy Van commune of Phu Tho province’s Viet Tri city was formally inaugurated at a ceremony held on October 16.
Attending the event included Most Venerable Thích Bảo Nghiêm, Vice President of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Central Executive Council cum Chairman of the VBS Executive Committee in Hanoi city; Senior Thích Minh Nghiêm, Chairman of the VBS Executive Committee in Phu Tho province; Nun Thích Chơn Quán, Abbess of Thuong Lam pagoda; and large numbers of Buddhist monks, nuns and lay followers.
Local guests at the event included Deputy Director of Home Affairs Department cum Chairman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Lê Công Luận.
Thuong Lam pagoda has deteriorated after a long time of existence, and no longer met the need of religious practices of increasing Buddhist followers in the locality. The reconstruction of the pagoda with many facilities including a main worshipping hall, a Mother Goddess worshipping temple, a three- entrance gate, a lecture hall, fences, campus was started in 2018 with financial assistance from contributors from localities.
