Ca Mau province has currently six operative religions of Buddhism, Protestantism, Catholicism, Hoa Hao Buddhism, Caodaism and the Vietnam Pure-land Buddhism with over 373,000 followers.
In particular, Buddhism in the province has 53 worshipping places with over 304,000 Buddhists and five Executive Boards of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) in districts of Dam Doi, Phu Tan, Thoi Binh, Cai Nuoc and Ca Mau city.
Under a plan of the VBS’s Executive Council, the district-level congresses of the VBS’s Executive Boards would be held from January 1 to December 31, 2021. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic in the province, preparations for the district-level congress of the VBS Executive Boards in Ca Mau province have met difficulties. Under a guideline of the VBS’s Executive Council and favorable conditions created by Ca Mau authorities, the district-level congresses of the VBS’s Executive Boards for 2021-2026 tenure in the province have been successfully convened.
The congresses of the district – level VBS’s chapters have reviewed Buddhist affairs in the previous term and approved working plans for the 2021-2026 tenure.
On the occasion, Buddhist groups and individuals have received certificates of commendation by local authorities for their practical contributions for socio-economic development in localities.
