Congress of Catholics for national construction & defense in Loc Ha district

The Board for Solidarity of Catholics Ha Tinh province’s Loc Ha district held a congress of the Catholics for national construction & defense for 2022-2027 tenure on August 8.

Local authorities present floral congratulations to the congress

The event saw the presence of local authorities and 64 delegates representing the Catholic community in the district.

The congress selected 15 members to the Catholic Solidarity Board in the district for the 2022-2027 tenure.

As reported at the event, Loc Ha district has currently 27,000 Catholics, living in 27 residential areas of eight communes, and accounting for 16.5% the district population. Over the past five years, local Catholics have proactively participated in patriotic movements and programs, contributing to socio-economic development in the district.

Catholics in parishes of Xuan Tinh, Lien Tien, Kim Doi, Vinh Luat, and My Loc have proactively donated trees and lands to expand rural roads. During the past five years, Catholics in the district have built 7,000m of concrete roads and 13,000m of canals, valued at over 0 billion VND.

In addition, the Catholic community in the district has contributed four billion VNS to Covid-19 fund, presented 3,600 meals, each valued at 50,000 VND, to people in the isolated areas and the force working on the frontline of the fight against the pandemic. Catholic dignitaries of the deanery have organized medical charities for providing free health check and medicines to 600 people regardless of the religious background.

Presenting certificates of commendation to outstanding Catholic groups and individuals

During the congress, the district People’s Committee awarded certificates of commendation to six Catholic local groups and 12 individuals for their contributions on local movements during the 2017-2022 tenure.
