Responding to the “Spring of Love” program launched by the Central Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS), the VBS chapters in provinces of Dong Thap, Binh Thuan and Long An held on January 2 ceremonies for presenting gift sets to poor locals and people affected by the Covid-19 epidemic, and starting rural bridge constructions.

* A ceremony for presenting gift sets to disadvantaged families and fish release has taken place at Tan Phu commune of Dong Thap province’s Thanh Binh district.
The charity event was co-chaired by Venerable Thích Minh Phước, Abbot of Long Son pagoda located in Tan Phu commune, in collaboration with Venerable Thích Từ Hạnh, Abbot of Lien Hoa pagoda in District 6 and Nun Thích nữ Như Diệu, Abbess of Tu Hanh pagoda in Binh Tan district of Ho Chi Minh City.
During the event, 150 gift sets containing food and other necessities, worth 350,000 VND each, were handed over to poor locals, and one ton of fingerlings were released into Tien River in Tan Thanh commune of Thanh Binh district.

* On the same day, in Binh Thuan province, Phat Quang pagoda in collaboration with Hung Long ward’s People’s Committee held a “Zero-VND” market.
During the event taking place at Hung Long primary school, 300 gift sets containing food, clothes, face masks and other necessities were presented to local people who severely affected by the Covid-19 epidemic.

* On the same day, the VBS’s Executive Board in Long An province’s Tan Thanh district held a groundbreaking ceremony in Tan Hoa commune for constructions of two rural traffic bridges in Van Phong village of the commune.

As reported, each bridge has a length of 20m, a width of 3.3m, and a load of 2.5 tons, which expected to be completed in 50 days. The two bridges have the total investment of 800 million VND in which sponsors donated 140 million VND, and the rest is funded by the VBS in the district and local people in the locality.
