Buddhist solidarity association in Tra Vinh’s district holds general meeting

The association for solidarity of patriotic Buddhist monks in Tra Vinh province’s Chau Thanh district successfully held on April 26 its 7th general meeting for 2023-2028 tenure.

Buddhist monks solidarity association’s executive board makes debut at the meeting

The event saw the presence of Most Venerable Thạch Oai, Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial association for solidarity of patriotic Buddhist monks, Most Venerable Kim Thone, Vice Chairman of the provincial association for solidarity of patriotic Buddhist monks, representatives from the management boards of Khmer pagodas, and about 100 delegates from Theravada Buddhism in the district.

The event elected 33 members to the Buddhist association’s executive board in the district for the 2023 – 2028 tenure with Most Venerable Kim Thone selected as Head of the executive board.

As reviewed at the event, with the leading role of the association of patriotic monks, Khmer Buddhists in the district contributed over 18 billion VND to social, charitable program in the locality over the past five years. In addition, the district Buddhist monks association also organized disseminating conferences on the State law for Buddhists in the district, etc.

On the occasion, the provincial association for solidarity of patriotic Buddhist monks presented certificates of recommendation to one Buddhist group and six individuals. Local authorities presented certificates of merit to 17 Buddhist groups and 25 Buddhist followers for their outstanding contributions in the 2018-2023 period.
