Buddhist school in Bac Ninh opens new academic year

The Buddhist school in Bac Ninh province held on September 20 a ceremony in Dai Thanh pagoda located in Kinh Bac ward of Bac Ninh city to open the school year 2022-2023.

The event saw the presence of Most Venerable Thích Thanh Dũng, Deputy Patriarch cum Secretary of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Central Discernment Council; Most Venerable Thích Thanh Quyết, Vice President of the VBS’s Central Executive Council; dignitaries from the provincial VBS Chapter; and monks and nuns studying at the Buddhist school.

Local guests at the event included Acting Chairman of the Committee for Religious Affairs in the province Chu Quang Hảo and representatives from local authorities.

Up to now, the Buddhist School in Bac Ninh province has completed five courses with over 200 graduating monks and nuns. At the ceremony, the executive board of the Buddhist school has presented certificates of graduation to 52 monks and nuns for the 2018-2022 course.

On the occasion, the VBS’s Central Committee for Buddhist education presented certificates of commendation to two Buddhist groups and six individuals of the Buddhist school for their outstanding contributions in Buddhist education and training .

During the event, Senior Venerable Thích Thanh Trung, Vice Chairman of the provincial VBS’s Executive Committee cum Principal of the Buddhist School beat the drum to kick off the new 2022-2023 academic year with 50 monks and nuns applied for the 6th course (2022-2026).
