A program of blood donation was held on August 7 at Vinh Nghiem pagoda located in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 3, on occasion of Vu Lan (Ullambana festival) 2022.
At 57th humanitarian blood donation program held in Giac Ngo pagoda
The event was co-hosted by the pagoda and the Humanitarian Blood Donation Center in the city.
The program welcomed 101 people to donate blood, including 11 people donating 450ml of blood, 81 people donating 350ml, and 9 people donating 250ml.
This is also an annual activity that has been held twice a year by the pagoda for the last 20 years, on the occasion of the first and the seventh lunar months.
Earlier, on August 6, more than 300 monks, nuns, lay Buddhists and other locals participated in the 57th blood donation program organized in Giac Ngo pagoda located in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 10.
The program was held by Giac Ngo pagoda in collaboration with Cho Ray Hospital.
The last 56 humanitarian blood donation programs held in Giac Ngo pagoda drew 20,938 volunteers eligible to donate blood, and collected 29,313 blood units for blood transfusion, dialysis, emergency or surgery patients.
In 2022, the pagoda has organized six humanitarian blood donation programs out of nearly 20 programs launched by pagodas in the city, including Hoa Khanh pagoda in Binh Thanh district with 200 people to donate blood, An Quang pagoda in District 10 with 61 volunteers, etc.
