The Vietnam Buddhist Institute in collaboration with MahaChulalongkornrajavidyalaya University held a workshop with the theme “Buddhism for Peace in Mekong Community” on March 7 at Ho Chi Minh city (HCMC).
Co-chairing the event were Most Venerable Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Council cum Deputy Director of the International Buddhist Affairs Committee Thích Thiện Tâm; Vice President of the Vietnam Buddhist Institute Lê Mạnh Phát; Royal Thai Consulate-General in HCMC Panbimom Suwannapong and Venerable Dhamnhansa representing MahaChulalongkornrajavidyalaya University.
Attending the event also included professors and researchers from 5 countries (including Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar and Vietnam), 65 lectures and students from the MahaChulalongkornrajavidyalaya University and 200 monks and nuns from the Vietnam Buddhist Institute.
During the seminar, delegate heard presentations by representatives from Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia and Vietnam, contributing their opinion to the ensuring of peace and sustainable socio-economy development in the Mekong delta.
