GCRA official receives Russian Social Affairs Department delegation

Vice Chairwoman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Trần Thị Minh Nga hosted on September 11 a reception for a visiting delegation of the Social Affairs Department in Russian Federation.

The Russian delegation was led by Rev. Sergey Vladimirovich, a member of the Social Affairs Department in charge of inter-national, inter-religious relations and migration.

The GCRA Vice Chairwoman shared with to the guests about the religious life in Vietnam and the Vietnamese government’s consistent policy of respecting and protecting the freedom of religion for everyone, and the State of Vietnam has recognized and granted registration of religious practices to a total 41 religious organizations, of which the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha is the largest organization.

She also added that Vietnamese Buddhism has also been present in 33 countries and territories with about 400 temples all over the world including Phat Tich Buddhist temple in Moscow. Therefore, she expressed hope that the Social Affairs Department would propose to Russian government to continue paying due attention and creating favorable conditions for Buddhist practices of the Vietnamese community in Russia.

Vice Chairwoman Trần Thị Minh Nga also informed the recent visit of the delegation led by Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Vũ Chiến Thắng to attend the 2nd International Buddhist Forum in Republic of Buryatia of Russian Federation from August 12-14, and expressed hope for more cooperative activities on religious affairs between the two countries in the coming time.

Speaking with the host, Mr. Kirishov Sergey Vladimirovich expressed his expectation that cooperation on Buddhism between Russia and Vietnam would be strengthened, and invited a Vietnam delegation to attend the 3rd International Buddhist Forum to be held in Elista in 2025.
