A delegation of the Central Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) led by Most Venerable Thích Thiện Nhơn, President of the VBS’s Executive Council cum Advisor to the World Fellowship of Buddhists (WFB) attended on October 28 the International Peace Conference 2024 in the UNESCO’s Headquarters located in Paris.
The conference co-organized by the Royal Thai Embassy, the Permanent Delegation of the Kingdom of Thailand to UNESCO, and the WFB from October 27-29 drew representatives from many countries and territories.

The event themed “Continuing Sustainable Society of Peace through Education: The Royal Patron of All Faiths” aimed to promote a peace world through the integration of knowledge and education on peace based on Buddhist principles, inspired by contributions of King Rama X of Thailand in promoting peace and harmony, thereby, continuing his vision in discussions to find practical ideas to build stronger bridges between different religions and communities.
The conference was also an opportunity to spread the Buddhist values of compassion, wisdom and harmony to solve current social problems and contribute to building a more peaceful world.

The conference included messages from the UN representative, leaders of the Buddhist Sangha of countries and territories, group discussion sessions to promote initiatives for sustainable peace, meditation practices and a praying ceremony for peace.
