Deputy Minister Vũ Chiến Thắng attends 2nd International Buddhist Forum in Russian Republic of Buryatia

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Vũ Chiến Thắng led a delegation of Vietnam to the 2nd International Buddhist Forum held in Ulan-Ude City of the Russian’s Republic of Buryatia from August 12-13.

Attending the forum were more than 600 delegates from the Russian Federation and 15 foreign countries, including Vietnam, Mongolia, China, Korea, Japan, Nepal, and India, etc.

Addressing the event, Deputy Minister Vũ Chiến Thắng highlighted practical contributions made by religious communities to the national development in Vietnam, stating that religions have played a positive role in making Vietnamese culture rich, diverse and unique.

The 2nd International Buddhist Forum themed “Traditional Buddhism and Modern Challenges” focused on dialogues on the development of Buddhism, Buddhist culture, and Buddhist philosophy and practices. The international event aims to enhance mutual understanding and promote exchange cooperation on Buddhist education and practices between Buddhist communities in Russia and attending countries.

At the opening session of the forum, representatives of participating countries affirmed the role of Buddhism in modern life and the importance of cooperation and dialogue between countries having large Buddhist followers.
