Senior Venerable Secretary General of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Council Thích Đức Thiện met with Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Vietnam Hasanthi Dissanayake at Quan Su pagoda in Hanoi on January 9.
During the reception, the Sri Lankan Ambassador exchanged with the hosts about the project “Sakya Kingdom” to be developed in Sri Lanka and expressed hope that Vietnam would participate in the development of the project by building a spiritual zone of Vietnamese Buddhism.
As planned, “Sakya Kingdom” will be a Buddhist complex located in Piliyandala, Srilanka with a mindfulness mediation centre and a global Buddhist heritage centre along with many functioning and supporting facilities.
Venerable Thích Đức Thiện hailed this project and stated that the VBS would support and participate in the project.
The VBS Secretary General also hoped that the two sides would continue promoting Buddhist cooperation in the coming time.
