Two Vietnamese Bishops attend the 14th Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops

The Synod of Bishops’ Office published on January 31 a name list of delegates to attend the Synod of Bishops on family in October, 2015.

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Vietnam elected Archbishop Paul Bùi Văn Đọc of Ho Chi Minh city Archdiocese cum President of Vietnam Bishops' Conference and Auxiliary Bishop Joseph Đinh Đức Đạo of Xuan Loc diocese. The substitute is Bishop Peter Nguyễn Văn Khảm of My Tho diocese.

The 14th Synod of Bishops will be organized in Rome from October 4 - 10, 2015 with the topic “The vocation and mission of family in the Church and in the contemporary world nowadays”.

Under the current rules (Article 6.1.3) the Catholic Bishops Conferences have less than 25 members shall elect one delegate, from 26 to 50 members elect two delegates; from 51 to 100 members are three delegates, and 100 or more are four delegates.

The 13th Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops was held in Rome from October 7 to 28, 2012 with the theme “Re-evangelization to communicate the Christian faith” and attended by 262 participants.
