Two Vietnamese Bishops attend 19th Assembly of the Congregation for Evangelization of Peoples

Cardinal Archbishop of Ha Noi Archdiocese Peter Nguyễn Văn Nhơn and Archbishop of Ho Chi Minh Archdiocese Paul Bùi Văn Đọc participated in the 19th Plenary Assembly from November 30th to December 3rd held by the Vatican’s Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples.
The Plenary Assembly is organized once every 3 years and the 19th Assembly 2015 took place with the theme “Ecclesial Awareness and Missio Ad Gentes: the service of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples at 50 years since the Concilliar Document Ad Gentes”.
Attending the event were members of the Congregation, including 30 cardinals, 8 bishops and 2 priests, and the General Secretary of the Congregation and advisors.
At the event, Cardinal Prefect of Propaganda Fide, Fernando Filoni opened the Assembly and highlighted activities carried out by the Congregation and followed by the first Report by Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, on the topic "Ecclesial consciousness and evangelizing capacity in the young Churches". Major reports covered in the Assembly also included “Missionary Activity Ad Gentes in the young Churches” on December 1st by Cardinal Peter Turkson Appiah, President of the “Justice and Peace” Pontifical Council, and “Services of the CEP and PMS desired by the young Churches” on December 2nd by His Exc. Mgr. Giampiero Gloder, President of the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy.
It’s reported that the participants of the 19th Assembly will have an opportunity to meet Pope Francis on December 4, the last day of conference.
