On October 11, Thai businessman Sedhep Silpangam, Director of the project casting statues of Bodhisattva Thích Quảng Đức in Thailand handed over one of the Bodhisattva’s statues to Giac Ngo Newspaper on occasion of the 40th anniversary of Vietnam – Thailand relations (1976 - 2016).
During the reception, Venerable Secretary of the newspaper’s Editorial Office Thích Tâm Hải praised Mr. Sudhep Silpangam and Vietnamese people in Thailand for their contributions to Buddhism and the home country of Vietnam.
According to the project’s Director, the statue casting project aimed to marked 53-year Buddhist event when Bodhisattva Thích Quảng Đức set himself on fire in Sai Gon, as well as raised fund from the distribution of the Bodhisattva statues for building a 13-storey stupa at Quoc Tu Pagoda in Ho Chi Minh City where the immortal heart of the Bodhisattva preserved.
As reported, the idolatry of Bodhisattva Thích Quảng Đức was designed with four different shapes, including the sculpture depicting Bodhisattva Thích Quảng Đức sitting inside a heart-shaped flame casted by Thai artist Banjerd Lekkong.
