On July 1, at the invitation of Consul General Rena Bitter, Cardinal Thượng Tám Thanh, President of the Tay Ninh Caodai Church’s Executive Council attended the 239th anniversary of Independence Day of the United States as well as the 20th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the US held at GEM Center in district 1, Ho Chi Minh city.
The event was joint by US Ambassador to Vietnam Ted Osius, Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh city People’s Committee Nguyễn Thị Hồng, and about 400 guests.
During the event, Cardinal Thượng Tám Thanh invited Ambassador Ted Osius to visit the Holy See of the Tay Ninh Caodai Church. Earlier, the US Consul General Rena Bitter met with the Cardinal during her visit to the Holy See in November, 2014.
