Senior Venerable Thích Nhật Từ receives award of Abhidhamma and Philosophy from Sri Lanka

Parama Dhamma Chetiya Pirivena Institute (Institute of Buddhist Education) in Sri Lanka presented Award of Abhidhamma and Philosophy to Senior Venerable Thích Nhật Từ in a ceremony held on July 14.  

Attending at the ceremony included Head of Sri Lanka Buddhism Most Venerable Rajakeeya Panditha Pimbure UdithaMaha Nayaka Mahathera, Sri Lanka Buddhist dignitaries of the institute, and over 50 Vietnamese monks and nuns studying in the country.

Parama Dhamma Chetiya Pirivena Institute located in a serene environment at Ratmalana, Colombo district was the seat of Buddhist education in 19th century (Under British Rule) in Sri Lanka. From the beginning it became the foremost and leading training center for Buddhist monks in the country.

On this occasion, Giac Ngo pagoda located in Ho Chi Minh City presented oferings to Buddhist monks studying in the institute and 58 Vietnamese monks and nuns studying in Sri Lanka, as well as presented 300 gift sets to disadvantaged Buddhist followers in the country.
