09/21/2020

On Sept 17, in Uong Bi City, the People's Committees of Quang Ninh, Hai Duong, and Bac Giang provinces co-organized a meeting to reach consensus on some contents of the nomination dossier to be submitted to UNESCO for recognition of the Complex of Yen Tu Monuments and Landscape located in 3 provinces as a World Heritage.

At the meeting, basing on Vietnam’s Department of Cultural Heritage’s guidelines and the outcomes of recent scientific seminar held in Quang Ninh, attendants reached an agreement on the type of heritage for submission, criteria for recognition and suggested name for the dossier. They also proposed a consultancy unit for compiling the dossier. It is expected that the dossier in English will be completed and submitted to UNESCO in September 2021.

The compiling of the scientific dossier and the heritage management plan aims at popularizing the values of the heritage to both international friends and Vietnamese, raising the authorities and local people’s awareness in protecting and promoting the heritage’s values. It also encourages local communities to actively take part in preserving, protecting, and promoting the values of the heritage, contributing to building an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identities.
