Professor of Belgium Catholic University visits Vietnam Catholic Institute

Dean of the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies under the Catholic University of Leuven (KU Leuven) in Belgium Professor Mathijs Laberights paid a visit to the Vietnam Catholic Institute on February 27.

Welcoming the Professor included Bishop Rector of the Vietnam Catholic Institute Joseph Đinh Đức Đạo and Priest Chief of the Office of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Vietnam cum Member of the Institute’s Executive Council Louis Nguyễn Anh Tuấn.

In a meeting with students from the Vietnam Catholic Institute’s Theological Faculty, Professor Mathijs Laberights expressed his belief that the theological studies in Vietnam would further develop and contribute to the theological ideas and researches in the world. He also encouraged students to improve in-depth knowledge on theological studies as well as actively learn foreign languages for translating theological studies in Vietnamese texts into the world’s popular languages, such as English and French.

The Catholic University of Leuven was established in 1425 in which the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies is considered as one of the oldest theological faculty in the world.

The KU Leuven University is currently assisting the Vietnam Catholic Institute in studying and referencing materials, especially theological books.
