08/29/2018

Vu Lan Festival, known as Buddhist Parents Day was celebrated by Khanh Van (Wat U Phai Rat Bamrung) pagoda in Bangkok, Thailand on August 26.

The event was organized by Vietnamese Buddhist followers in Thailand in collaboration with the Vietnamese Language Knowledge Centre, the Vietnamese Thai people association in Bangkok and the Thai-Vietnamese business association in Bangkok, the Thai-Vietnamese culture association.

Hundreds of Vietnamese Buddhist monks, followers and students were present at the event to express their gratitude towards their parents and pray for peace and prosperity.

Mrs. Phạm Thị Kim Thoa from Nonthaburi said “I am very happy when participating in this ceremony.  Being a Vietnamese in Thailand, I’m eager and longing to this event, because there are two occasions for meeting the Vietnamese communities, Lunar New Year and Vu Lan Festival”.

The Buddhist festival has been held annually by Vietnamese communities in Thailand at Vietnamese pagodas in the country since 2009. It creates an opportunity for Vietnamese overseas in Thailand to express their gratitude towards the parents as well as connect Vietnamese expatriates.
