Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Parvathaneni Harish meets with Deputy Patriarch Thích Trí Quảng

H.E. Ambassador of India to Vietnam Parvathaneni Harish led on March 15 a delegation to visit Most Venerable Deputy Patriarch of the VBS’s Discernment Council Thích Trí Quảng at Hue Nghiem pagoda located in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 2.  

Indian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh city K.Srikar Reddy joined the delegation.

During the visit, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish spoke highly of roles and contributions by Most Venerable Thích Trí Quảng as head of the Vietnam Buddhist Institute in Ho Chi Minh City, one of largest Buddhist training centers in Vietnam. The Ambassador also informed the host new policies of the Indian government on education and cultural exchanges including the scholarship program for Vietnam.


 

Speaking with the guest, Most Venerable Thích Trí Quảng recalled the long-standing traditional friendship between Vietnam and India and thanked Indian Government for supports extended to VBS’s educational work over the past years. The Most Venerable shared that the VBS’s discernment council will pay more attention to the training of ancient languages such as Sanskrit, Pali in order to create favorable conditions for VBS’s monks and nuns to attend intensive program in ancient languages in India. Most Venerable Thích Trí Quảng also expressed hope that the VBS would receive further assistance from the Indian government in the field of Buddhist education.
