Hungary: Vietnam Buddhist Association holds ground-breaking ceremony for construction of Tue Giac pagoda

On October 23rd, in Budapest – Hungary, the Vietnam Buddhist Association in Hungary and Vietnamese community held a ground-breaking ceremony for construction of Tue Giac pagoda - Vietnamese Cultural Center in Budapest.

Attending the ceremony included Most Venerable Thích Thiện Bảo, Member of the Central Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Council, Vice Chairman of the VBS Propagation Committee, Vietnamese monks from Poland, Germany and Czech Republic, and a Chinese Monk and Nun from Quoc Pho Te and Hu Van pagodas.

Guests attending the ceremony included Mr. Nguyễn Viết Khuê, Counsellor in charge of community affairs of Vietnam Embassy in Hungary; Mr. Vũ Quý Dương, Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Hungary. More than 300 Vietnamese Buddhists neighboring countries also joint the ceremony.

It’s reported that Mr. Vũ Quý Dương dedicated a 350m2 building for setting up the main Buddha worshipping hall and the facilities, and contributed 10% of the total cost for building Tue Giac pagoda. The estimated cost of the pagoda construction was 30 million ft (equivalent to over 3 billion VND), and its construction will be completed in late 2014.
