On Nov. 4, Minister of the Home Affairs Nguyễn Thái Bình received Ambassador Ted Osius of the United States of America in Vietnam.
Attending the reception also included Deputy Minister of the Home Affairs Ministry Nguyễn Duy Thăng and Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Bùi Thanh Hà.
Speaking at the reception, Minister Nguyễn Thái Bình extended greetings to the Ambassador and U.S. delegation members. He expressed his pleasure at the comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and the United States, and regarded it as an important milestone for strengthening Vietnam-US ties.
The Minister shared with the Ambassador on some contents the two draft laws on associations, and belief and religion. He said that the two draft laws have been sent to religious organizations, followers, associations and citizens for comments.
Regarding the draft law on belief and religion, Vice Chairman Bùi Thanh Hà said that the law drafting has been based on the Vietnam Constitution 2013, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the practical situation of religious life in Vietnam.
During the meeting reception, Ambassador Ted Osius affirmed that U.S experts are willing to share experience with their peers from the Vietnamese Ministry of Home Affairs in building laws on belief and religion, and associations.
