Hanoi: Vietnam Buddhist Sangha receives film crew of ‘The Buddha’s Life’

On October 10th, at the central office of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS), 73 Quan Su street, Hanoi, Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu, Vice Chairman of the Central VBS Executive Council received a film crew of “The Buddha’s Life’. The film crew included Thai Princess Rajadarasri Jayankura, film producer Navin Gooneratne and actor Gagan Malik who played as Prince Siddhārtha in the movie.

Speaking at the meeting reception, Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu highly appreciated the contribution of the film and dedication of the film crew. He said this movie has been shown in many localities in Vietnam and at the UN Day of Vesak 2014 Festival, and left deep impressions on Vietnamese Buddhists and people, contributing to introduce profound and practical teachings of the Buddha for alleviation of suffering and attainment of enlightenment.

On behalf of the film crew, Mr. Navin Gooneratne thanked the hosts for its warm welcome and shared that the film ‘The Buddha Life’ was sponsored by Sri Lanka President, received great supports from Thai Princess and collaboration from Bollywood, and Vietnam was the second country to project this film, after Sri Lanka. He also believed that this movie will contribute to spread the Buddha’s message of compassion and love throughout the world.

Actor Gagan Malik, playing as Prince Siddhārtha in the movie said at the reception that he was impressed by the Buddhist devotion in Vietnam and it was a joy for him when the movie he played touched many Vietnamese. The actor also spoke about his charity organization "Lotus World" established with a purpose of together bringing love for peace and happiness to everyone around the world.

On this occasion, Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu presented a certificated of merit by the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha to the film crew for their outstanding contributions to the UN Day of Vesak Celebration 2014  in Vietnam.
