Ha Tinh diocese has new apostolic administrator

Archbishop Marek Zalewski, the Holy See’s Apostolic Nuncio to Singapore cum Non-residential Pontifical Representative to Vietnam on March 19 announced the appointment of Auxiliary Bishop Louis Nguyễn Anh Tuấn, who currently serves in Ho Chi Minh city Archdiocese as Apostolic Administrator of Ha Tinh diocese.  

Earlier, Pope Francis has accepted the resignation of Bishop Paul Nguyễn Thái Hợp as Bishop of Ha Tinh diocese.

Born in 1962 in Quang Nam province, Bishop Louis Nguyễn Anh Tuấn studied at St. Joseph Major Seminary in Ho Chi Minh City in 1993-1999 and was ordained a priest for this archdiocese in 1999.

He graduated at the Pontifical John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family at the Rome-based Pontifical Lateran University in 2001-2006.

The Bishop served as secretary of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Vietnam (CBCV) in 2009 - 2014 and Chief of the CBCV’s office in 2014-2018.

He was appointed as the auxiliary bishop of Ho Chi Minh City Archdiocese on August 25, 2017 and ordained as Bishop on October 14, 2017.

Bishop Louis Nguyễn Anh Tuấn was appointed as Head of the CBCV’s Committee for Pastoral Care of Migrants in 2019.
