Government religious committee Leader receives Anglican diocese of Singapore

Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Vũ Hoài Bắc hosted on July 8 a reception for Bishop Titus Chung, Head of Anglican Diocese of Singapore.

Joining the reception included Chief of the GCRA’s Office Nguyễn Văn Long, Director of the GCRA’s Protestant Affairs Department Thiều Thị Hương and Director of the GCRA’s International Relation Department Nguyễn Phong Thịnh.

During the reception, Bishop Titus Chung shared with the host the development process and current activities of Anglican Church in Singapore.

Accordingly, the Singapore Anglican Diocese currently has 27 parishes with about 22,000 parishioners. The diocese has proactively engaged in the fields of education and public health service, targeting those in need of special care, such as the elderly and people with autism, with 11 schools, 2 hospitals and 30 health care rooms across the country, and efficiently operated under guidance and supports of the Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of Health of Singapore

For his part, Chairman Vũ Hoài Bắc highly appreciated the model of service and community care of the Diocese.

The GCRA leader also had exchanges with the guests about functions, tasks of the GCRA, the religious life in Vietnam and state policies on belief and religion over the past years.

The official affirmed that the Party and State of Vietnam have a consistent policy for respecting and safeguarding the religious freedom of all people and equality of religions before the law, as well as highly appreciate practical contributions by religions in socio-economic development, education, health and social charities.
