On Sept. 22, the Vietnamese Association of Literary Writers held a dialogue “Nature and Human: Universal Oneness” with the participation of His Holiness Gyalwang Drukpa of the Drukpa Order at the Temple of Literature in Hanoi.

Speaking at the dialugue, Mr. Gyalwang Drukpa extended sincere greetings to Vietnamese and stated “In Buddhism, Shakyamuni Buddha taught: Let's cherish all living beings. He’s not only teach us to cherish humanity but also respect all living beings, from animals and natural environment. Especially, we need to live friendly and peacefully with our natural environment, including forests, mountains, rivers and clean water…”.

His Holiness shared that protecting environment on earth being contaminated is an urgent issue for any country. Pollution and climate change have directly threatened the welfare of the community. The phenomenon of global warming in an unusual way, from the polar ice caps rapidly melting, sea water encroaching land, desertification... to disasters like typhoons, mountain landslides, floods and droughts are huge threats to human beings.

According to His Holiness Gyalwang Drukpa “The main cause of pollution is the contamination inside the heart of each of us. Due to lack of understanding, our mind become contaminated. When the mind isn’t clean, it will lead to pollution of the environment. Nature environment is the fullest reflection of the nature in human heart”.

On this occasion, His Holiness sent environmental protection messages to everyone: “We need to not only pick up the trash, clean the environment but also purify the contaminations in our mind”. He also taught that as humans: “we need to appreciate and connect with nature to realize that we are also a part of nature.”.
