7th Vietnam - Laos religious affairs exchange opens in Hue city

The 7th conference on exchanges in religious affairs between Vietnam and Laos was started at an opening ceremony held on October 11.

The conference taking place in Hue city was held by the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) in collaboration with the Central Committee of the Lao Front for National Construction (LFNC).

Present at the opening ceremony were Chairman of the GCRA Vũ Chiến Thắng, Vice Chairman of the LFNC Chanthavong Sene Amatmontry, Vice Chairman of Thua Thien – Hue provincial People's Committee Phan Ngọc Thọ, 20 delegates from the LFNC and representatives from Hue city Departments of Home Affairs and External Affairs.

Overview of the conference

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chairman of the GCRA Vũ Chiến Thắng expressed his delight as the conference taking place on occasion of the 55th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties and the 40th anniversary of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation between the two countries of Vietnam and Laos.

He added the GCRA will do its utmost for fruitful collaboration in implementing the signed agreements between the two sides, to step up the efficiency of bilateral cooperation in state administration on religious affairs, contributing to strengthen the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

Addressing the event, Vice Chairman of the LFNC Chanthavong Sene Amatmontry took the chance to thank the GCRA for hosting the conference under the framework of the bilateral cooperation agreement on religious affairs between the GCRA and the LFNC for 2014-2020 period.

The conference will last until October 19.
