On August 11th, the Youth Union of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) organized a conference on the briefing of the project of Law on Belief and Religion and the written proposal about the draft law to be submitted to the Prime Minister for approval.

Attending the conference were Mr. Bùi Thanh Hà, Vice-Chairman of the GCRA, Mr. Nguyễn Khắc Huy, Director of Department of Legislation and Inspection and Mr. Nguyễn Phúc Nguyên, Secretary of the Youth Union; officials from Department of Legislation and Inspection and all members in the Youth Union under the GCRA.

Pursuant to the Constitution 1992, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly issued the Ordinance on Belief and Religion. After 10 years of implementing the Ordinance with 2 guiding Decrees (Decree No. 22/2005 and Decree No. 92/ 2012) many achievements have been recorded and favorable conditions have been created for religious activities. Besides, the Ordinance has limitations that need to be upgraded into law. Purpose of promulgating the law is to improve legal system on belief and religion and institutionalize the guidelines of the Party and the Constitution, in order to guarantee the right to freedom of belief and religion for all citizens.

At the conference, the youth discussed and commented on the Draft Law on Belief and Religion and the written proposal about the draft law to be submitted to the Prime Minister, as well as issues to be added or omitted in the draft law.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Bùi Thanh Hà highly valued practical contributions of the conference. He also expressed his hope that the Youth Union will continue to promote activities linked to the political tasks of the Committee, contributing to create a good environment for the youth in their works.
