The Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) held on September 25 in An Giang province a seminar on the current management and religious resources.
The event, themed “The state management and religions’ resources in Vietnam currently: practices and solutions”, was chaired by Dr. Bùi Thanh Hà, Vice Chairman of the GCRA, and attended by representatives of concerning agencies and heads of the provincial-level religious committee in 20 provinces and cities of Vietnam South.
The seminar drew 12 presentation papers from scholars and officials, focusing on potential and actual resources of religions, limitations in promoting these resources for social developments and recommended measures for effectively mobilizing religious resources for developing the country and the society.

Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman Bùi Thanh Hà emphasized the need to objectively and accurately recognize resources of religions and create a legal framework for religious organizations to engage in education, vocational training, healthcare, etc, as well as ensure the legal equality between religious organizations and other social entities. In order to effectively promoting religious resources for social development, it’s necessarily to accept the competition between a religious institution and other social organizations, he added.
