The Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) held on December 22 a online seminar on supporting religious practices contributing to preserve and promote the national culture for Overseas Vietnamese (OV) community.

The seminar was chaired by Vice Chairwoman of the GCRA Trần Thị Minh Nga and joint by Director of Culture and Information Department of State Committee for OV Đinh Hoàng Linh; Dr. Bùi Hữu Dược, Senior Lecturer at Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, religious dignitaries in cities of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh and An Giang province, and representatives from the GCRA’s departments.
As reported at the event, the Vietnamese community abroad now numbers about 5.3 million people in over 130 countries and territories, with 2.5 million of them being religious followers. Most of them always look toward the homeland, promote and preserve national traditions.

The seminar received 15 presentations and speeches of researchers and religious dignitaries, focusing on current activities of international relations and supporting religious OV engaged religious practices contributing to the preservation and promotion of the national culture in the OV community, advantages and disadvantages of the OV in conducting religious practices helping preserve and promote the national culture, as well as proposed recommendations and measures to support religious practices of the OV community in the coming time.
